Dr. Salah Aziz, a visionary and trailblazer, is the esteemed founder and driving force behind the establishment of Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST). Serving as KUST’s President from 2010 to 2017, Dr. Salah Aziz played an indispensable role in shaping the university’s trajectory and nurturing its growth. Dr. Salah Aziz’s leadership extended far beyond his presidency; he also served as a devoted member of the board and chairman of the University Council. His strategic guidance and steadfast dedication to the institution’s mission were pivotal in securing its success.

KUST thrived as an iconic model of academic excellence and innovation. His foresight drew a team of distinguished Academic Co-Founders, each a leading figure in their respective fields, who contributed their profound knowledge and expertise to lay the university’s academic foundation. Some notable Academic Co-Founders include:

• Dr. Kamal Tawfiq, a distinguished Civil Engineering professor at Florida State University.
• Dr. Hayder Al-Shukri, a prominent professor of Applied Sciences at the University of Arkansas.
• Dr. Peter Garretson, an esteemed History professor at Florida State University.
• Dr. Abdulaziz AlSebial, an expert in Arabic Literature.
• Dr. Michal Basile, with a background in International Affairs at Murray State University.
