Introduction
A joined workshop between Komar University of Science and Technology, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and Power Petrol Company will be held on February 24th, 2022, at Komar University campus entitled “Improving Capacity Building of Petroleum Product Companies in Kurdistan Region”
The workshop attempts to create a platform for the academics and professionals to meet and share their insights. Additionally, the new technologies that are currently in use by petroleum products companies will be introduced to the participants.
Aims
- Introduce the human capacity and potentials of the universities to the company.
- Introduce the new technology that is in use by petroleum product companies to students and faculties.
- Introduce what capacities and skills the petroleum product companies are after from the academic institutions. This can later be added to their course syllabi.
- Introduce Power Petrol company to students in order to attract them to conduct their
- Power Petrol staff can provide short-term trainings to the students for their future careers in the petroleum product storage, transportation and distribution.
- Introduce the role of IT in the new company This is for the purpose of improving the system that is currently in use. Power Petrol aims to illustrate how its system operate and assist universities to prepare qualified IT specialists and petroleum engineers.
Contribution
This workshop aims to fill the existing gap between the skills of the companies are after and what universities train their students for. The academic staff of both universities can benefit from this workshop to design better course syllabi. This is for the sole purpose of preparing students for the job market.
