Komar University Hosts Anfal Commemoration Seminar
On April 14, 2025, Komar University of Science and Technology held a seminar to commemorate the victims of the Anfal Campaign, one of the most painful chapters in Kurdish history. The event was attended by faculty members, students, and the university president and vice president.
The seminar was hosted by Dr. Hemin, who opened the event with a heartfelt summary of the Anfal genocide and recited a Kurdish poem in tribute to the victims. He then invited Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj, Vice President of the University, to deliver a commemorative speech. Following his remarks, the audience joined together in a solemn minute of silence to honor the lives lost during the genocide.
The highlight of the seminar was a presentation by Mr. Mohammed Salih Tofiq, a researcher specialized in the Anfal genocide. In his seminar, Mr. Tofiq provided a detailed and moving account of the events and long-lasting impact of the campaign on Kurdish society.
In recognition of his contribution, Dr. Salahalddin Saeed Ali, President of Komar University, presented Mr. Tofiq with a Certificate of Appreciation and a plaque, acknowledging his efforts to preserve the memory of the Anfal victims and educate future generations.
