Komar University Hosts Panel on Autism Awareness and Support
On Sunday, April 20, Komar University of Science and Technology held a panel discussion titled “Understanding and Supporting Individuals with Autism.” The event, organized by the Psychological Counseling Unit in collaboration with the KUST Psychology Club, aimed to raise awareness and promote acceptance during Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month.
The panel featured insightful talks from Dr. Diyar Najib, Specialist in Brain and Neuroscience; Ms. Media Omer, Head of Special Education; and Mr. Rahman Ali, Specialist in Autism and Intellectual Disability. The session was moderated by Dr. Shahla Ali Ahmed, Head of the Psychological Counseling Unit.
Speakers shed light on the challenges individuals with autism spectrum disorder face and stressed the importance of empathy, early intervention, and inclusive education. The discussion encouraged attendees to listen, learn, and support efforts to create a more accepting society.
