Komar University’s Department of Pharmacy Organizes “Hêvîlane” Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Collaboration with Family Mall
On October 31, 2024, the Department of Pharmacy at Komar University of Science and Technology organized the Hêvîlane Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign at Family Mall Sulaimaniyah. This initiative was held in collaboration with Family Mall to raise awareness about breast cancer and its impact on individuals and communities.
The campaign aimed to educate the community on the importance of early detection through self-examinations and regular mammograms, providing accessible information on how and when to perform self-examinations. Family Mall also introduced “Hêvîlane,” a unique handmade keychain featuring beads of various sizes, symbolizing the different stages of breast cancer tumors. This meaningful representation served as a powerful visual tool, helping participants understand the progressive nature of breast cancer and the critical importance of early intervention.
Supporting Sustainable Development Goal 3, which promotes good health and well-being, the Hêvîlane Campaign encouraged women in particular to undergo regular screenings and mammograms. This initiative by Komar University’s Department of Pharmacy highlighted the university’s commitment to community health education and breast cancer prevention.
Through these efforts, the Hêvîlane Campaign aspires to foster a well-informed community, emphasizing that awareness and early detection can be life-saving in the fight against breast cancer
