Komar University faculty member ranks first among Scopus Iraqi researchers
In July 2023, the Scopus Index and Abstract Database announced the latest list of Iraqi researchers in the field of reservoir inflow. Among the list, Mr. Sarmad Latif, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at Komar University of Science and Technology, has been ranked the first researcher in Iraq for the past three years. This ranking is based on the number of relevant papers published in top international journals and the number of citations.
Scopus is the largest database of Elsevier publications based on citations and abstracts, covering various fields such as health, engineering, physics, social sciences, and many others. Sources in the database include closed access journals, open journals, conference papers, books, and commercial publications. The database was launched in late 2004 and is updated daily. Journals in Scopus can receive two specific criteria, SNIP and SJR, along with other journal evaluation criteria, including Science Journal. According to the latest update, the Scopus database contains about 24,600 journals from 5,000 different publications, with more than 194,000 books published. Scopus also includes 100% of the Midline publications. This wide scope of the database has made it easy for researchers to access the titles they need. Scopus is of great importance to scientists and researchers around the world. Currently, many researchers believe that if there is a journal in Scopus, it is scientifically accredited because, for each study, several expert scientists do a thorough scientific review before the manuscript gets into the process of publication.
