A keypoint of 2nd Kurdistan Region Student’s SPE Conference

The Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE) Student Chapter at Department of Petroleum Engineering Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) held a virtual conference on Jun 24th, 2021 with collaboration of  SPE Erbil Section. In this conference both postgraduate and undergraduate projects have been presented and discussed by academics and industry professionals. 

The conference was inaugurated by the speech of Prof. Dr. Kwis Aziz Faraj (Vice President of KUST). After welcoming the attendees and presenters, Prof. Dr. Kawis highlighted the importance of the oil/gas industry and such events to be held regularly in our region. Thereafter, Dr. Howri, a keynote speaker, gave a stunning presentation on how to unlock the newly discovered oil/gas prospects in Kurdistan Region and worldwide. He also explained the inaccurate procedure that followed in our region to explore for new oil/gas reserves. 

The student projects were delivered in four sessions chaired by “Dr. Jagar Aziz, Dr. Hiwa Sidiq, Mr. Barhm Sabir and Mr. Ali Hasso”. The conference ended with Dr. Hiwa’s speech in which he thanked the attendees and presenters from Zakho, Mosul, Soran, Koya and Sulaimani Polytechnic University.
