Invitation by Queen Mary University of London
In response to an invitation by Queen Mary University of London, the president of Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST), Professor Salahalddin Saeed Ali, visited the university on 11th November, 2019. He was warmly received by Professor Irene M. Leigh, Dean of Global Engagement, School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Mr. Philip Gill, Strategy Officer (Education and Global Engagement).
After a brief overview about Komar University of Science and Technology, Professor Ali expressed his great aspirations in establishing a modern scientific foundation and developing internationally accredited academic programs for the medical departments at KUST. To achieve this, he asked Professor Irene for their kind support by establishing collaborative work between the two institutions.
After welcoming Prof. Ali and presenting a brief history of QMUL, Professor Leigh commended KUST on its academic aspirations and expressed their alacrity to help in this regard.
The meeting was followed by a detailed tour inside the campus and the university hospitals. During the tour, Prof. Leigh introduced Prof. Ali to Dr. Jason, the director of the undergraduate program of Dentistry, and through email later to Professor Coulthard, the Dean of Dentistry.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Rizgar Majeed, Research Fellow and Professor of Experimental Immunology in the Center for Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology, William Harvey Research Institute, QMUL, who had thankfully arranged the meeting, attended the meeting and the tour as well.
At the end of the visit, both sides decided to keep in touch through the Deans of Dentistry of both QMUL and KUST for a detailed preparation of the agreement.
