Education for Sustainable Development
Between October 21st to 23rd, 2019, Quality Assurance Office conducted a training session for the faculty members on “Education for Sustainable Development”. The session was run by Mr. Twana A. Tahir (Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office). Three major topics were discussed widely with an active participation from the participants. The topics were:
- How to apply student-centered Approach.
- The Importance of Authentic Learning in teaching process.
- Outcome-based learning as a new trend in nowadays learning process (Innovative Pedagogy)
In the second day of the training, Mr. Mohammed Ali (Faculty member from Petroleum Engineering Department) has shared some finding about his experience with applying Student-Centered Approach (SCA) for the last two semesters in Komar University’s context. He emphasized on the importance of applying SCA while it needs some modifications such as mixing the written exams as an assessment tool with the practical parts like PBL, Case study, Filed trip and so on.
In the last day of the training session, all the participants presented different teaching methods and learning tools in order to be applied in their teaching process. At the end, the findings from the training session as a SWOT analysis on our education system were prepared by the participants and shared with Presidency Office to be used as a current and future plan for enhancing teaching and Learning process at Komar University.
