KUST Declares Mourning for the Loss of President Talabani
Komar University of Science and Technology declares mourning for the loss of President Mam Jalal Talabani starting from October 4th, 2017. The University organized a general meeting where faculty , staff and students gathered in the Auditorium Hall. During the gathering, Dr. Salah Aziz, President, spoke about the President Talabani’s achievement. He stated, President Talabani was not only a Kurdish Movement Leader but he was the first elected President of Iraq and First Kurdish person to become President of an Arab Country, and the first person who spoke in the United Nations in Kurdish. He added that President Talabani was able to achieve those huge steps by his wisdom, humbleness and political skills.
The other activities included:
· Placing flowers under a full-size President Talabani’s poster by the President
· Lighting candles by members of KUST community
· Reading Poem by a student
· Lowering flags half-staff
The University cancelled classes from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
