Komar University President Meets Newly Elected Student Council.
On May 2nd, 2016 at 11 am, the President of Komar University Dr. Salah Aziz met with the newly elected members of Student Council of 2016-2017. The meeting was attended also by Dr. Ala Noori Talabani, the acting vice president for student affairs.
In the meeting the President appreciated the work and service of the previous student council. He congratulated the new head of Student Council for the students’ trust in him, and wished the members all best of success in their new tasks and responsibilities.
Dr. Ala explained to the new council, their responsibilities, rights and duties based on SC Act, and she emphasized on the procedural aspects of Student Council meetings, proposal and pursuance of ideas and initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the previous Student Council for their service and their dedication.
In a later interview with KUST website, Mr. Mardin Omer, the previous head of the KUST Student Council stated: “During my term of service in 2015, the Student Council did its best to strengthen connection with students and instructors to insure a better environment for education in our university, he added: “I feel proud for serving Komar University and its students, and wish success for the new elected head of the Council.”
For his part, the new elected head of the student council, Mr. Diar Namir Ali, said: “I feel happy for the opportunity to serve Komar University and its students. I think we have to rise above our personal interest, and give our best to serve our community” he added.
In Komar University each members of Student Council represents the students of an academic department. The term of service of Student Council is one year, this year’s election took place in May 25th, 2016, and the results were announced the next day. The new Council for 2016-2017 consists of 9 member including the head of the Council.
