Komar University Hosts Cancer Awareness Event and Fundraiser for Hiwa Hospital

On February 6, 2025, Komar University of Science and Technology organized a Cancer Awareness Event featuring Dr. Shwan Ali Tofiq and Dr. Sara Jamil Nidhamalddin, bringing together students, faculty, and healthcare professionals to raise awareness about cancer prevention and risk factors. The event consisted of two sessions, beginning with educational seminars by the guest speakers. Dr. Sara Jamil Nidhamalddin, a board-certified medical oncologist (KBMS), provided insights into cancer, discussing the disease and the various risk factors that contribute to its development. Dr. Shwan Ali Tofiq, a senior clinical hematologist, focused on preventive measures, emphasizing the importance of early detection and lifestyle choices in reducing the risk of cancer.

Following the seminars, students took an active role in supporting the cause by organizing a fundraising campaign. They displayed various projects, engaging attendees and encouraging contributions, with all proceeds donated to Hiwa Hospital to support cancer patients and ongoing treatment efforts.
