Komar University takes part in Anti-Drug Roadmap Meeting in Universities Initiated by Higher Education Ministry
On February 26, at the Sheraton Hotel in Erbil, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a meeting to discuss a roadmap to combat drug and psychotropic substance abuse among university students. The initiative, marked by the participation of Dr. Shahla Ali Ahmad from the Komar University of Science and Technology, focuses on enhancing student counselling services across Kurdistan universities.
The Komar University’s psychological counseling unit, known for aiding students and staff with various psychological issues, exemplifies the kind of support the roadmap aims to amplify. The plan, which involves universities across the region, includes raising awareness, integrating drug prevention into curricula, and leveraging media and technology in the fight against drug abuse.
The Higher Education Minister stressed the responsibility of universities in implementing this comprehensive approach to safeguard students’ well-being, highlighting a collective effort to create a drug-free educational environment.
