KUST Biomedical Science Students Attend Advanced Training at India’s NITTE University
The students of the Biomedical Science Department at KUST are currently participating in a training program titled “Advanced Techniques in Biomedical Science” at NITTE University in Mangalore, India. The program’s inaugural ceremony took place on June 12, 2024, at the NITTE University Center for Science Education & Research (NUCSER).
The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. M S Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor of NITTE University, who delivered an inspiring talk on the potential for collaboration between KUST and NITTE. Following this, Prof. Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj, Vice President of KUST, addressed the students, highlighting the importance of the training program and commending the efforts of Dr. Noel Vinay Thomas, Chairperson of the Biomedical Science Department at KUST; Dr. Syed Riyaz Ahammed, Deputy Director of International Relations at NITTE University; and Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director of NUCSER, for making the program a reality.
Dr. Anirban Chakraborty then detailed the training schedule. For the rest of the day, KUST students participated in sessions on Developmental Biology using zebrafish zygotes, cell culture techniques, and protocols for personal genomics and precision medicine.
The program also saw the attendance of KUST delegates Ms. Monica Diyya, lecturer in the Pharmacy Department, and Ms. Hawar Sardar Hassan, lecturer in the Biomedical Science Department.
