Komar University of Science and Technology celebrates its 7th commencement ceremony
On October 28, 2023, Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) celebrated its 7th commencement ceremony for the class of 2023. In this round of graduation, a total of 177 students graduated from 10 different departments, with both the pharmacy and dentistry departments producing their first graduates in the Sulaimani province. This marks a significant milestone for the departments and the university as a whole, as it contributes greatly to the academic community.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq Mahmood, Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rahel Faraidoon, the Governor of Sulaimani Dr. Haval Abubakr, Provincial Council Chairman, Mr. Azad Mohammed Amin, university presidents, members of the Board of Trustees, the owners, family and friends of graduates.
The ceremony started with a moment of silence for the martyrs of Kurdistan, followed by the university’s anthem. Following this, Dr. Ari Sami, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, gave an opening speech congratulating the graduates and also highlighting some of the important milestones the university has achieved. Following Dr. Ari’s speech, Professor Dr. Salahalddin Saeed Ali, president of Komar University of Science and Technology, gave a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and also highlighted some of the important developments the university has made in the past few years. He also congratulated the graduates, wishing them a splendid future.
Following his speech, Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq Mahmood, gave his speech in which he praised Komar University for its great achievements in terms of international recognition and local contributions.
Mr. Abdulrahman Topfiq, a graduate of the Computer Science Department and the university’s valedictorian, also gave an enthusiastic speech addressing his experience at the university and the importance of hard work for his fellow graduates. Following his speech, Mr. Abdulqadir, an exceptional alumnus and a successful business owner, gave a speech addressing his university life and its importance as a driving force for his success in the business world.
After reciting the oath by the graduates, read by Professor Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, the graduates received their certificates. Following this, the graduates celebrated the night with enthusiasm as they joined with their families and friends.
