Komar University of Science and Technology holds seminar on Anfal

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Komar University of Science and Technology held a seminar for Mr. Omar Mohammed Qadir who is a researcher in the field of Anfal and Anfal studies under the title “Ba’ath era and the language of documents”. In this seminar, the researcher spoke about the genocide and the Anfal tragedy based on various verified evidences he had obtained. In these documents, the researcher did not only rely on the written records of the Ba’ath regime, but also presented the ‘words and photographs’ of those who were subjected to the trauma of Anfal. In general, the seminar discussed three main topics: the beginning of Anfal, displacements, military operations, documents and records of the Ba’ath Party about Anfal and Halabja, presenting documents and arguments about it, as well as the psychological and social consequences of Anfal. The seminar ended with questions and discussions of the participants in which they emphasized the importance of such activities to preserve evidence or documentation of crime for any nation and society in the project of building memory and justice to benefit from them.
