International Experts Discuss Precision Medicine, Particle Therapy, and the Future of Radiotherapy at KUST
On October 5th, 2023, Komar University of Science and Technology hosted a series of seminars that brought together experts in the field of cancer treatment and the use of radiotherapy. The seminars, attended by faculty, students, and hospital representatives, featured presentations by distinguished speakers from around the world.
Dr. Fabrizio Scopelliti, a renowned physician from Cannizzaro Emergency Hospital in Catania, Italy, started the event with his presentation titled “Theragnostic: Pioneering Precision Medicine for Targeted Therapy and Diagnosis.” Dr. Scopelliti delved into the exciting world of precision medicine, shedding light on how it is revolutionizing healthcare by tailoring treatments to individual patients.
Next, Dr. Ruhani Khanna, from Nottingham Trent University in England, United Kingdom, captivated the audience with her talk on “Particle Therapy: Unveiling the Power of Heavy Particles in the Present and Shaping the Future of Cancer Treatment.” She discussed the potential of heavy particles in improving cancer treatment outcomes.
The final seminar of the event, “Future of Radiotherapy: MRI-Linac and VHEE Beams,” was presented by Dr. Marco Favetta from Italy. In his seminar, Dr. Favetta explored the promising advancements in radiotherapy.
The event concluded with engaging question and answer sessions, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among the attendees.
