1st Annual Mesopotamia’s Oil & Gas Symposium: Natural Gas Resource and Development

“Komar University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Soran University and Kazan University organized and held an international symposium titled “1st Annual Mesopotamia’s Oil & Gas Symposium: Natural Gas Resource and Development“. The event was held in the conference hall at Soran University on May 12, 2022.

The symposium was inaugurated by Prof Sherwan’s, President of Soran University,  welcoming speech then followed by the keynote speaker “Dr Howri Mansurbag” and two sessions of the symposium program.

The first session was allocated to discuss the legal sides of natural gas contracts and the differences between  “PSC and SC” contracts. The second session was focused on the technical sides of natural gas processing, transportation and storage.

A group of PTE students from Komar SPE student chapter attended the event as part of the SPE Erbil section activities.

The event concluded that Kurdistan has potential to meet the local demand and export natural gas to the international market provided an extensive exploration and production program were implemented.
