Iraqi Minister of Water Resources participates in a panel at KUST

On October 2, 2022, Komar University held an international conference on Water Resources in Iraq. During the conference, Mr. Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, the Minister of Water Resources of Iraq, Ms. Begard Talabani, the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Region, and professor Nadhir Al-Ansari from Lulea University in Sweden participated in a panel discussion on issues and challenges facing water resources and dams in the Region. The panel was moderated by Professor Dr. Salahalddin saeed Ali, the president of Komar University. Both Ministers shed light on issues and challenges facing water resources and dams in Iraq and the Kurdistan region. They both stressed the importance of bilateral collaboration between the ministries as the issue is common between the KRG and Iraq in general. The panel was attended by government representatives from the KRG and academics from Iraq. The discussion ended with questions from the audience discussing challenges and solutions to the problems that the country is now facing.
