Continuous Professional Development Workshops
The CIEP team arranged a weekly schedule in the spring module for regular training workshops. The workshops were conducted by the CIEP Instructors and their choice of topic. It was part of CIEP’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Prior to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, two workshops were conducted in the English corner of the Business building. On 13th February 2020, Mr Aram Ali Ahmed began with the workshop, “Emotions, Engagement and Learning.” He shared many useful ways to engage students. Furthermore, modern ESL methods and authentic techniques on how to keep the students interested in their studies were discussed.
The second workshop was conducted by Mr Aram Ahmed Salih on 27th February 2020. His workshop was in regards to the “Teacher as a facilitator” which highlighted the importance of the teacher’s roles as a facilitator. A facilitator’s role in the classroom is of great importance as it encourages the students to develop their existing knowledge and skills. Tips and techniques were also shared amongst the CIEP team.
The purpose of the workshops is to share information amongst the CIEP ESL Instructors and for them to enhance their skills in order to provide the most up-to-date methods of teaching English as a second language. CIEP continues to pursue CPD by attending regular webinars and conferences held by Macmillan Education, National Geographic, The British Council, Trinity College, London and Cambridge English.
