KUST Sixth Annual University Day Ceremony
On Wednesday May 1, 2019, Komar University of Science and Technology held its sixth annual University Day ceremony with the motto “Creativity Starts with Us”. The main objective of the event was to present KUST’s students’ capabilities in the form of scientific and entertainment projects.
The event started at 10:30 with a classic music performance followed by one minute silence for martyrs. Afterwards the University President, Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Saeed Ali, gave a speech. He started with congratulating workers all around the world on the occasion of Labor Day. He then thanked the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MHER), university owners, students, faculty members and staff of the university as well as the UD 2019 preparation committee. In addition, he elaborated on the quality of the academic environment of the university. He appreciated the companies that cooperated with KUST for internship program. Later on, he and Mr. Mazhar Khaliqi opened the scientific and entertainment projects.
During the day, 200 projects were presented to the guests. Overall, 500 students participated in the festival. The majority of the scientific projects were about sustainable energy and interdisciplinary subjects. The students explained their projects to the guests in English and Kurdish Languages. Some of the entertainment activities attracted large numbers of visitors; different types of meals were served to the guests and the food court on plaza roof was opened at 12:30 pm.
A piece of music was played by the Music House band and a performance was presented by XFM team. After that, six gifts were distributed to the visitors which were provided by Miran Group, SAA Company, House of Brand, H&L Design, Bayad Group and Darya’s photography. Finally, the head of UD2019 committee, Ms. Sazan Ahmad Ali, gave appreciation plaque to KUST’s students in the Music band and the event hosts, Mr. Balen and Ms.Tablo.
At the end of the day Komar Music Band conducted a concert by KUSTs’ Music band who included Mr. Bayar Mohammed, Mr. Nsar Mohammed, Mr. Ara Shad and Mr. Ahmad Agha. The concert was warmly received by the visitors, the event ended with Kurdish songs.
