ATLAS Outreach Co-coordinator Prof Kate Shaw’s visit to KUST
Komar Research Centre invited Prof Kate Shaw, one of the internationally well-known physicists and outreacher, a lecturer at the University of Sussex, working on the ATLAS experiment at CERN, and a staff scientist at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), to visit Komar University of Science and Technology.
During this visit, Prof Shaw introduced her activities, especially her role at ICTP to Prof Salahalddin Saeed, the president of KUST. She clarified how ICTP works and the opportunities provided there for young talented Kurdish senior students. Prof Saeed also explained the teaching system, academic departments and the research activities at KUST. Finally, the possibility of conducting a workshop and/or training at KUST by inviting ICTP scholars for next year was discussed.
