The 1st international conference forecasting water in the future of Iraq using past & present
Komar University of Science and Technology has co-organized a three-day international conference entitled “The 1st international conference forecasting water in the future of Iraq using past & present” with University of Sulaimani and University College London (UCL) from September 14th till September 16th, 2019. The conference included important and vital topics related to water resources and the water problem in Iraq. The conference is a help in real understanding the threats of climate changes, water pollution, dam activities, and current water usage practices. The conference focused on areas such as engineering, hydrology, geohydrology, geochemistry, paleoenvironment, and other areas.
The president of KUST prof.Dr. Salahaddin Saeed and prof.Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj vice president for scientific affairs participated in the conference sessions.
The president of KUST delivered a speech in the opening ceremony, in his speech highlighted the importance of this conference, hoping that the conference will be a fertile land for exchanging ideas and experiences that may help us secure a better, safer and healthier life for Iraqi people and humanity at large.
In his speech the president of KUST addressed the importance of relationship between the academic institutions and the decision-makers., emphasizing that creation of mutual relationships between the academic institutions and the society is of crucial significance. Espousing these two components of the country will yield the best fruits of progress possible, then addressed the development of KUST and the future Scientific plan of the Komar university. Komar University has been working seriously to prepare highly qualified graduates equipped with ethics, knowledge, and skills required to meet the needs of the business market and to develop the country as well.
