On March 16th 2016, students, staff and faculty of Komar University paid respect to the victims of Halabja massacre with the moment of silence in a gathering for one minute, in the new Campus’s square.
In the 28th anniversary of chemical weapon’s Attack on the civilians of Hajabja, faculty members, staff members and students raised many pledges which explored from their deep feeling for the victims of that brutal attack.
Pledge were; “Halabja You are Always in Our Heart”, “Halabja We Respect the Souls of Your Victims” and “Never Again, We Will Allow Genocide”
It is worth mentioning that, the students who had classes at that time didn’t deprive themselves of that respectful moment, they kept silence for a moment in their classes with their lecturers.
In 1988, on March 16th, the Baath régime bombarded Halabja with chemical attacks, which killed more than 5000 innocent people, injured many others, and ruined the lands, the buildings and the nature of that district.
