A Seminar on Egocentrism
On Thursday, May 19th, 2016, as a part of Komar University faculty seminar session, Dr. Shaho Saeed Presented a seminar titled “Egocentrism as a Barrier to Thinking”
In the seminar, Dr. Shaho focused on the concept of Egocentrism as one of the barriers to proper thinking, in both social lives and academic fields. He also mentioned the types of egocentrism and its effects on logical dimensions which prevent critical thinking skills and lead to logical fallacies and finally overcoming egocentrism.
The presenter suggested some strategies for overcoming egocentrism and raised some research questions in different academic fields, such as: How can egocentrism affect managerial behavior (Business)? Does egocentrism pose barrier to political agreement in Iraq and Kurdistan (Political sociology)? The relationship between egocentrism and building design (Engineering).The position of Ego in texts, literature and social or political peaches (Criticism).
The seminar was attended by students, faculty and staff members whom they enriched it with their questions and debates. At the end, Dr. Shaho was awarded with a certificate of Appreciation for his great work and presentation
