Starting Waste Recycling in Sulaymani to improve Environment
Mr. Bahroz Mhamad Salh, Governor of Sulaymani Province has signed an agreement with a French company (Lafarge) and local company (Faruk Group) to build and treat wastes produced by the city of Sulaymani. The Plant will be completed in 18 months with a cost of nearly 50- 55 million dollar. Dr. Salah Aziz, President of KUST, and Mr. Ahmad Ali Faraj one of the owners of KUST, attended the ceremony. Dr. Salah stated: “Having a waste recycling in Sulaymani reflects the official attitude to improve the environment of the city. We hope that other governmental agencies will contribute to a better air and water environment in the whole Kurdistan. The department of Environmental Engineering at KUST is the only engineering program in the Kurdistan Region. Therefore, there is a good opportunity for the program’s graduates to serve the Region”.
